My business photo session package includes the photography session, a number of portraits and complete facial enhancement. That means full retouching work done on the original negative. This produces the highest quality results!

Don't be fooled by other photographers that tell you they will "touch it up". This only means they will touch up a bad printing job to bring it up to a barely acceptable level.

By the way, there are several different levels of printing. Personality Portraits from Dynamic Photography are always custom printed. This is the highest quality printing available.

Another red flag to look for is when the photographer is using a 35mm camera. Again don't be fooled. You're not getting the highest quality available when the photographer is using 35mm. Ask the photographer what film format he is using.

If he says 35mm, then ask if he will do facial retouching. (You really want the photographer to use what is commonly called "medium format" or "2 1/4 inch format"). (I use medium format).

The average run-of-the-mill photographer using 35mm will counter with "I can scan the image into the computer and retouch it". If he says this, you need to ask if there will be an additional charge for this service.

For your information, 35mm negatives can't be retouched. Scanning can only be done with a print, witch is a second generation image and results in lower overall quality.

Understand this: A photographer that gives you a cheap low-end price will be using a 35mm camera. It doesn't make any sense for him to scan images from 35mm and do some photo manipulation because the cost of doing that is expensive (it's called digital imaging) and it will blow his cheap low-end price right out of the water!

That's why he'll probably ask for more money if you insist on facial retouching. And you should if you want the highest quality portrait!

Here's the point: Why let a cheap low-end photographer nickel and dime you to death for an inferior job witch will end up costing you more money than if you did it the right way to begin with?

What's the right way? Medium format film with negative retouching. It makes much better sense to have the job done the right way to begin with. That will come to less money than having some run-of-the-mill photographer use 35mm and charge you for digital imaging!
